One day, talking on skype with my friend Maria, while we were on our Erasmus studies, we thought that we should meet on a different country and spend our Easter holidays together.
(Check out our Destinations for more details of the cities we visited)
Maria found the creaziest offer to Gdansk from Norway (where she was) and also from Denmark (where I was). We couldn't let such an offer to go to waste, so we booked the flight for 8€ for her and 12€ for me!
Then we had to decide what we wanted to see and from where we would leave. We found out that Polland has really cheap bus tickets from one city to another, and of course we could use Flixbus!
But we had so many days and we would be so close to other countries, we couldn't resist! I kept saying we should visit Germany, but two friends would come to join us on our trip and thought it was better to meet in Czech Republic.
We decided to visit Warsaw since it's the capital and it was a great opportunity to visit Aushwitz, so we decided to also stay in Krakow. Then we were looking for tickets to Germany and Czech Republic and the cheapest flights to go back. So we decided to go to Prague. Then our friends said they would meet us in Warsaw, so they could also see Aushwitz.
After all theb preparations were done and the time came we finally started our trip!
We met each other in Gdansk! We only stayed there for two nights and we traveled during the night by bus to Warsaw. In Warsaw we stayed for four days, because it was a bigger city, and we wanted to enjoy it.
After Warsaw we traveled again by bus to Krakow. We prefered to use a bus during the night, so we wouldn't miss our day. But our friends had a different opinion, so we used a bus in the early morning.
From Krakow there is a bus that you can take to go to Auschwitz. The museum opens quite early, but you have to book your ticket in advance. Also there are two camps that you need to visit there. The one is the museum. In general you will need to be careful of the timetable of the routes.
The last stop of our trip was Prague. From Krakow we needed to take the bus until the border. In Bohumin, we took the train to Prague. When you book your tickets, it will automatically combine the different means of transport.
It was quite easy to move around, because the girl inside the bus gave us perfect directions. Also access to the internet is necessary so you won't get lost, because it's quite rare to find someone that speaks English. In Czech Republic, though, our life got easier, we could communicate in English, and actually many even understood some Greek, because of how frequent Greek tourists are.
Finally, the flights from Prague were quite cheap to get back to Denmark and Norway.
