Sightseeing in Stockholm

Updated: Sep 22, 2019

Stockholm is a beautiful city and totally worth visiting. You can even see it in one day, but you will enjoy only the highlights. This is what this list is about. What you need to see when sightseeing in Stockholm.

We were living in Kungsholmen so my list will start from the closest to the farthest.

1, Stockholm's City Hall

2. Gamla Stan

This island is practically the graphic old center. Of course you should walk around and maybe enjoy an ice cream or buy some souvenirs there. If you enjoy walking you should cross Riddaholmsbron to see the small island on the left of Gamla Stan.

3. Stockholm's Palace

Around the Palace is also a good place to walk and see Storkyrkan, the old church, and maybe the museum of Royal Armory, which is free. Then you should head towards the sea.

4. Stortorget

It is the oldest square in Stockholm, and it's located at the center of Gamla Stan

5. Stockholm's narrowest street (Mårten Trotzigs gränd 1)

6. Norrmalm

It is the area you should head if you go shopping, but also walk along the sea. The port of that area is a good place to sit and enjoy your coffee. You can even walk all the way to Skeppsholmen.

7. Vasamuseet

After you watch this magnificent ship, you should visit the park across the street.

8. Södermalm

It's the perfect area for a walk and go shopping too. But actually it has the most famous bars, and it is a good area to go grab something to eat.

9. Globen Stadium

Don't hesitate, because of the distance, just use the metro. I actually walked from there all the way to Kungsholmen, so I could see more of the city.

Stockholm is a big city and each island has its beauties, you can use the metro if you want to move fast, although I prefer walking to see more. It is one of the safest cities I have ever visited, so you shouldn't worry even during the night.
